A rock and a hard place

When you do something wrong for the right reasons, it usually turns out badly. When my friend decided to move in with her girlfriend it set in motion a chain of events that have taken an ugly turn. The girlfriend took in her grandson to give him a good stable home. His parents were unavailable to parent him. My friend was the primary caregiver to the little baby. Now the relationship between the couple is over but they still live in the same house, mainly so my friend can continue to provide the nurturing a little boy needs. His grandmother is incapable of seeing to his or anyone else's needs. She is the ultimate narcissist. Instead of being grateful that my friend is sticking around and taking care of the kid, she is making life even more miserable than ever. So my friend is stuck between saving herself by getting the hell out or saving the kid by staying and taking the abuse. No good choices here. Think long and hard before getting in deep with someone who is emotionally unstable.
